Book Review: Good Things - Kevin Gerald

Blogging for Books provided Good Things by Kevin Gerald to me free. I am not required to give the book a great review it does deserve it. From the first words the book Kevin states we have not earned Gods favor, he freely gives it to us. This is a concept that is hard for us as humans that have been hardwired for so many years to had to earn acceptance and favor whether it’s from parents or coworkers.
Kevin brings many examples from his own life such as an incident as a teen where he wrecked a new car. He feared his father’s disapproval but instead of chastising him, his father was glad he was okay – a new car can be bought; but a son cannot be replaced. Another example he gives us is an issue he had at the airport in which he goes on to state his displeasure of dealing with the airline staff. Even then, God did not show disfavor towards him nor the airline worker. The biggest take away from this book is the concept of a ‘favor faucet’ and how it never stops flowing even when you become content, God still shines his favor on you and will lead you where you need to go. Kevin also touches on those different seasons, whether we refuse to follow Gods urging and his path for us, become complacent in life or in a relationship, and choose to follow our own path.  No matter what season of life we are in God always affords his favor to us, we just need to let go and see what he has in store. As the author states at the end ‘Gods favor last a lifetime!’

I recommend this book for anyone who is in a tough season and feel abandoned and lost. God is always there.
